Update Crowdstrike causes BSOD and affects various sectors

Organizations and institutions all over the world have suffered from IT problems caused by a software update from cybersecurity company Crowdstrike for systems running Windows.

The global issues with Microsoft may prevent users from accessing various Microsoft 365 apps and services.

The problems, especially PC failures that display a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) occur at a variety of companies and institutions, from insurers, banks, supermarkets, hospitals to airports. This also causes problems elsewhere in the chain. In certain states in the US, emergency numbers are not accessible or are only accessible to a limited extent. KLM has had to cancel flights and reports that contact centers may be inaccessible. Chaos has ensued at many airports worldwide. According to VNG, municipalities can be reached as usual. The UWV cannot access customer files, VodafoneZiggo warns of longer waiting times at customer service. In Flanders the information line 1700 is inaccessible. The BBC reports that almost 1.400 flights have been canceled worldwide due to the IT outage. The processes started again at most companies around four o'clock in the afternoon.

The Digital Trust Center (DTC), part of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, has a workaround provided.
