Approximately 50 employees of Transcom Groningen will go on strike for a limited time on Thursday. It is the first strike at the Groningen branch, according to the FNV.
The planned closure as of November 1, 2026, will result in the loss of 150 jobs. Trade unions FNV and CNV have been pressuring Transcom for quite some time to come up with a better social plan.
According to FNV, Transcom has so far refused to renegotiate the social plan. The union is demanding, among other things, higher severance pay, budgets for training and outplacement, and a better pension scheme for employees aged 55 and over.
Thursday's strike – from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM – is the employees' first action. As long as Transcom is not willing to return to the negotiating table and come up with a decent social plan, the employees will take further action together with the FNV, according to the union.
