Spotify has had to deal with a huge increase in complaints due to all the fuss about the popular podcaster Joe Rogan. To remain accessible, Spotify's customer service department has therefore decided to replace live chat employees with a chatbot. [text continues below image]

The outcry arose when more than 270 scientists and doctors wrote an open letter calling on Spotify to stop the spread of misinformation via Rogan's podcast.

Spotify, which has a $100 million contract with Rogan, has decided it is not required to moderate the podcast's content and is allowing its star podcaster to continue on the platform. The streaming platform has 172 million subscribers. A significant portion of them have started discussing on social media and interacting with customer service through the single channel, the web chat. So there is now only a chatbot there temporarily.
