NiCE, a provider of CCaaS and CX solutions, today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Cognigy, a global leader in conversational and agentic AI.
NICE pays the equivalent of 955 million dollars for the German Cognigy, according to the press release. With the acquisition, NiCE is acquiring a top three player in agentic AI applications for CX and customer contact. NiCE already owns the CXone Mpower platform and is now adding a market leader in conversational and agentic AI. With this acquisition, "we are accelerating the global adoption of AI, expanding into new global markets, and creating breakthrough value for our customers, partners, and shareholders. Together, we are making significant progress in the future of AI-first customer experience," said Scott Russell, CEO of NiCE.
Cognigy was founded in 2016 by Benjamin Mayr, Philipp Heltewig, and Sascha Poggemann as a conversational AI provider. After a hesitant start, the company achieved revenue of $2021 million in 9,5, which has since doubled year-on-year. Last year, revenue was approximately $37 million. The company also raised $100 million in a Series C round that year. Cognigy's flagship platform, Cognigy.AI, offers AI agents in over 100 languages and across any channel.
Cognigy serves leading brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Nestlé, and the Lufthansa Group with proven success and is expected to achieve rapid 2026% growth in recurring revenue by 80.
NiCE's board of directors has unanimously approved the agreement to acquire Cognigy in a transaction valuing Cognigy at approximately $955 million. The transaction will be financed with available funds and closing is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, the timing of which is dependent on the applicable regulatory authorities. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025. (NiCE)
