October 20, 2017 – If the healthcare sector were to switch to the use of chatbots, it could save $ 3,6 billion annually worldwide. That says Juniper Research in a recent study based on cost savings realized in 2017. The deployment of chatbots powered by artificial intelligence would provide patients with much faster and easier access to care and reduce the pressure on overburdened healthcare facilities through efficient interactions. In the new study (Digital Health: Vendor Analysis, Emerging Technologies & Market Forecasts 2017-2022) shows that chatbots can make a big difference in triage, the process of asking for care needs. Juniper also sees obstacles: even in well-developed healthcare systems, the use of chatbots encounters problems related to poor system integration. In addition, the conservative attitude in healthcare plays a limiting role. Juniper therefore expects chatbot technology to deliver results faster in more innovative countries such as China and India.
