General practice Matenpark in Apeldoorn deploys a chatbot Talk to the Doctor to relieve the assistant. The chatbot is a product of Dutch general practitioner Peter Dekkers. That message the OUR.

Talk to the Doctor recognizes more than 80 complaints and takes the history by asking relevant diagnostic questions that are normally asked at the consultation or on the telephone. The answers are shown in a compact summary that can easily be transferred to the S line in the HIS.

The chatbot first verifies patient data and then asks specifically about complaints and symptoms, records them and uses the information to prepare for a consultation. That saves a lot of time in the administration, hopes the initiator. The person completing the form will also receive a confirmation e-mail with all the data entered, according to the online demo. In response to questions from Ziptone, Dekkers indicates that the chatbot was developed on the basis of the LLM and the open source software from Rasa.

“The language must improve and a chatbot must actually work better as there are more users,” Dekkers told NOS. He wants to further improve and expand his chatbot with more advanced AI. Replacing the assistant or the general practitioner completely, he does not see happening. Dekkers: “In the near future we will be rolling out the chatbot at several practices.”

“Consultation hours are under pressure due to the aging population in the Netherlands. There's another one coming very high concern on us. So we have to make the best possible use of the existing capacity.” (NOS, Ziptone)
