On average, Dutch C-level executives expect that a quarter of current roles will be transformed by AI or replaced by AI. Over the past two years, this figure was 19% and 6%, respectively. This is according to a recent survey of 261 Dutch C-level executives by ING.
The greatest impact is expected within the IT department, followed by research & development (R&D) and sales; customer service is in fifth place. AI will primarily be used to support R&D and customer customization through improved segmentation, followed by developing new (AI-based) products/services and optimizing financial processes and customer service.
Investments will increase in the coming period, and most companies expect to recoup these investments within one to three years. Repetitive work is often being taken over, freeing up employees to create value for the company. This is also expected at ING itself, according to Mark Milders, Director of Wholesale Banking at ING Netherlands.
The fact that a quarter of jobs are changing or disappearing does not mean that companies are downsizing. new jobs what people are needed for, according to ING. (ING)
