AWS launches Amazon Connect Health

Amazon Web Services has introduced Amazon Connect Health, a new AI solution specifically designed for healthcare administrative processes. The platform expands the Amazon Connect contact center service with features designed to relieve medical staff of documentation-intensive tasks.

At the core of Amazon Connect Health is the use of generative AI. The system can analyze conversations between doctors and patients in real time, automatically summarize them, and generate structured protocols. Furthermore, the software generates the correct billing and treatment codes. The goal is to reduce the effort required for manual documentation while simultaneously enabling transparent and traceable documentation of medical services.

Besides recording consultations, Amazon Connect Health also offers features for administrative processes. These include digital patient verification, appointment scheduling tools, and workflow optimization within medical institutions.

Strategically, Amazon's new solution builds on its existing contact center platform, Amazon Connect. This service is one of the established products in the company's cloud portfolio and, according to Amazon, now generates approximately $1 billion in annual revenue. By specializing in the healthcare sector, AWS is further expanding its vertical strategy.

A key component of the platform is "evidence mapping": a feature that links each piece of AI-generated output back to its exact source, whether it's a transcript of an environmental interview, a patient's medical records, or billing guidelines. This allows physicians to quickly verify the basis for a summary or recommendation.

Initial implementations are already underway: healthcare provider One Medical is among the first users. The pricing model is modular. AWS charges $99 per month per user for the documentation feature, while digital patient verification costs 15 cents per interaction.
