Payment provider Visa is joining the AI agent developments. The company is introducing Intelligent Commerce, an initiative that enables AI agents to offer consumers a personalized and secure shopping experience. In other words: AI agents will make purchases on behalf of customers.
The service covers the entire purchase process, from browsing and selection to purchase via secure payment and post-purchase management. The latter includes handling any issues that may arise, such as dispute resolution.
Consumers who want to use the service can set personal preferences. Visa also uses – currently – more than 85 unique personalization signals based on consumer spending behavior. Visa Agent AI agent APIs then make recommendations tailored to the consumer’s unique preferences.

In the background, Visa’s Intelligent Commerce Partner Program is where Visa’s designated AI agents, platforms and developers can integrate. to seamlessly integrate into the global commerce ecosystem. The ecosystem is designed to drive greater trust and engagement in agent-led commerce.
