ABN AMRO has added an online tool to the banking app that allows customers to check whether they really have an ABN AMRO employee on the line.
With Conversation Check, private customers of the bank can, if they wish, see for themselves whether they are really speaking to someone from the bank and not a potential fraudster.
If a customer is unsure whether they are really talking to ABN AMRO on the phone, they can request a Conversation Check. An ABN AMRO advisor who calls a private customer will then place a message in Internet Banking or in the customer's ABN AMRO app. Via these two channels, customers can then see a pop-up with confirmation that they are indeed talking to someone from the bank.
The Conversation Check is an additional security tool, in addition to five existing tools that ABN AMRO offers in the app: the daily limit, the card limit, push notifications, the payment profile and the Savings Lock.
Fraudulent practices such as (bank) helpdesk fraud, in which a criminal pretends to be a bank employee, often go unrecognized. recent research from Ipsos I&O on behalf of ABN AMRO, it appears that more than a quarter of Dutch people are not fully aware of what a bank never asks its customers.
More than half (50,6 percent) of customers currently use the app to call ABN AMRO. That is more than 4 times as many as three years ago. One in five ABN AMRO app users chooses to receive push messages, which quickly inform them of changes to their current account. In addition, more and more customers prefer two-step verification, instead of the e.dentifier to log in to their online banking environment. (ABN AMRO)
