In sectors heavily reliant on AI, the number of job vacancies has been growing less rapidly since mid-2022 than before. This correlation is strongest in Germany, Australia, and the US. This decline is particularly visible in call centers, software publishing, management consulting, and advertising, the American broadcaster reports. CNBC.

The broadcaster bases its report on conclusions from an analysis by Goldman Sachs Global Investment Research. Call centers are hit the hardest, with a 39 percent difference from the trend in the US, 33 percent in Canada, and 27 percent in Germany. To determine the impact, Goldman analysts compared eleven studies, also taking into account the number of companies using AI. In developed economies, this figure is 15 to 20 percent. France, the US, the Netherlands, and the UK are leading the way, while Italy and Japan are lagging behind.

If exposure to AI increases by 10 percent, annual job growth for the entire workforce drops by about 0,1 percentage point in Canada, France, and the US, according to Goldman.

For the analysis of call centers, Goldman used the US category 'telephone call centers' (NAICS 561422), which focuses primarily on facility service providers and telemarketing agencies. Companies' in-house customer service departments do not fall under this category, meaning the effects of offshoring may skew the figures. The underlying Goldman report is not publicly available.
